Warmest congratulations to Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan on being named Maribyrnong City Council’s Citizen of the Year for 2026.
Venerable Phuoc Tan is the well-known abbot of Quang Minh Temple and has been recognised for his fundraising efforts across Footscray, Sunshine, and Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Fuel prices are rising and it’s putting households under pressure.
That’s why the Allan Labor Government will deliver one month of free public transport from Tuesday 31 March.
That means free trains, trams and buses – metro and V/Line – every day until the end of April, for everyone.
More than 220,000 Victorian families have received a free Baby Bundle, packed with essential items to help new parents and carers through their first few months of parenthood. 🍼
Every first-time parent in Victoria is eligible for this Baby Bundle, which will save Footscray families up to $150 each.
This just one of the ways that the Labor Government supports new families.

Our Footscray Salvation Army Cafe project is getting ready to open soon! 🍽️ @salvationarmymelbourne
Last week we held an initial training session with interested volunteers, and it was great to see so much engagement already.
After securing the funding for this Cafe project, I am grateful that our partnership with the Salvos will provide a warm and welcoming Cafe-style space for the Footscray community.

Film is a powerful medium of storytelling, especially within our Footscray community.
Every year at Footscray Community Arts, the Trans and Gender Diverse Film Festival (TILDE) captures rich stories through lens of Trans and Gender expansive storytellers.
This year, the organisers of this beautiful festival have asked me to share that they have partnered with the Australian Cultural Fund (ACF) to fundraise for their May festival, and they will match efforts up to $5000!

It was great to visit the Footscray Rugby Union Club at Henry Turner South Reserve – home to several junior and senior Rugby teams.
The Victorian Government continues to invest more than $18.5 million into community sport and active recreation infrastructure in Maribyrnong, providing evenmore vital opportunities to play sport.
