Construction is now complete on Australia’s first Museum dedicated to the Vietnamese Community, located in Sunshine. 🇻🇳 I attended the first look of what will be a purpose-built, three-story space that will tell the stories of our Vietnamese communities and their refugee experience, celebrating their invaluable contributions to our state. Victoria’s multiculturalism is one of our greatest strengths – that Labor will always embrace and protect. ❤️

For over 30 years, Top Arts has shone a spotlight on the incredible talent of young Victorians studying Art at VCE level. Last week I had the pleasure of opening the 2026 exhibition.    Fine art education is a crucial part of our curriculum. It empowers students to create amazing works like those now on display at the NGV’s Ian Potter Gallery.     Top Arts and our schools are shaping the next generation of Victorian painters, writers and songwriters to uplift and inspire us.      Artist credits:   Drawing - Clover Marnika Sculptures - Amaia Mercer
Our Footscray Salvation Army Cafe project is getting ready to open soon! 🍽️ @salvationarmymelbourne Last week we held an initial training session with interested volunteers, and it was great to see so much engagement already. After securing the funding for this Cafe project, I am grateful that our partnership with the Salvos will provide a warm and welcoming Cafe-style space for the Footscray community. Registrations to volunteer are still open and highly encouraged. Sign up now via our link in bio! ❤️

Film is a powerful medium of storytelling, especially within our Footscray community. Every year at Footscray Community Arts, the Trans and Gender Diverse Film Festival (TILDE) captures rich stories through lens of Trans and Gender expansive storytellers. This year, the organisers of this beautiful festival have asked me to share that they have partnered with the Australian Cultural Fund (ACF) to fundraise for their May festival, and they will match efforts up to $5000! TILDE is an amazing cause and a safe space for our diverse community – we encourage you to attend and find out more here: https://artists.australianculturalfund.org.au/s/project/a2EMn00000Y85XVMAZ/tilde-film-festival-2026

It was great to visit the Footscray Rugby Union Club at Henry Turner South Reserve – home to several junior and senior Rugby teams. The Victorian Government continues to invest more than $18.5 million into community sport and active recreation infrastructure in Maribyrnong, providing evenmore vital opportunities to play sport. Labor believes in the power of community sport – and we will continue to invest in the sporting facilities that our communities deserve.
