CREATING SMOOTHER JOURNEYS ALONG GORDON STREET

The Allan Labor Government is making journeys smoother for those travelling along Gordon Street as works start in Maribyrnong between Mitchell Street and River Street today.

These works are part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25 investment of $964 million in the road maintenance program last year across Victoria.

Crews will be working at night to minimise traffic disruption until 27 June.

Gordon Street will be closed between Birdwood and River streets while works are being completed with private property access maintained.

Drivers travelling northbound can detour via River Street and Rosamond Road, and for those travelling southbound, the detour will be via Hampstead Road and Ballarat Road or Raleigh Road, Epsom Road, Langs Road, Farnsworth Avenue and Ballarat Road.

These kinds of work are vital for keeping the Victorian road network running smoothly to ensure road users can travel safely and efficiently.

The Victorian Budget 2025/26 will invest $976 million in a Better Roads Blitz to fix potholes and upgrade road surfaces across Victoria, the largest single-year investment in road maintenance in the state’s history.
